Opening times

The Château, the Laiterie de la Reine and the Chaumière are open every day except Tuesdays.

Closed on the first January, May and 25 December.

The commune of Rambouillet is on the following cycle routes:

  • La Véloscénie (from Paris to Mont-Saint-Michel)

By train

Rambouillet station:

  • Semi-direct TER REMI service, departing from Montparnasse station, stopping at Rambouillet (35 minutes).
  • Transilien N from Paris Montparnasse, stopping at Rambouillet (1 hour 15 minutes), included in the Navigo Pass

Rambouillet station – Château: 15-minute walk. Alternatively, take bus routes 5301 and 5304 (towards Groussay)

Services and visiting conditions

  • Free, shaded car parks in the grounds, a 5-minute walk from the château.
  • 1200 metres separate the château from the Laiterie de la Reine. Afterwards, allow a few minutes' walk through the English Garden to reach the Chaumière aux coquillages.
  • Bookshop inside the château.
  • Toilets in the château only
  • The château is located in the heart of the town, within easy reach of numerous shops and restaurants.
  • No lockers. Large bags and suitcases are not permitted. Rucksacks must be carried on the stomach for the duration of the visit.
  • Pushchairs and backpacking carriers are not permitted indoors. Please note that there are no storage facilities. Please bring a baby carrier.
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead in the park. Not permitted in the monuments, except for guide dogs.
  • Photos authorised without flash in the monuments.

Disabled

  • Outdoor flooring: stabilised paths in the grounds, cobblestones and gravel at the foot of the château and in the enclosure of the Queen's Dairy.
  • No lift at the château (221 steps). A few steps are required to access the Laiterie de la Reine, the interpretation area and the Chaumière aux coquillages.
  • Folding chairs available on request at the monument entrances.
  • You can book a sensory tour with a guide for an adapted discovery of the Laiterie de la Reine and the Chaumière aux coquillages.
