Presentation
Discover the Château de Rambouillet as it was imagined by President Vincent Auriol and his wife in the aftermath of the Second World War. A presidential residence that is both modern and comfortable, it has become a showcase for French expertise thanks to the work of the most renowned designers . Their inspiration ? The elegant ocean liners of the time, such as the Normandie and the Ile-de-France!
An ambassador for French taste and quality, and a magnificent expression of French soul and genius.
Thanks to an exceptional partnership with the Mobilier national, the exhibition features President Auriol's study, designed by decorator Jacques Adnet and temporarily recreated in the castle's assembly flat. Here you can also discover some exceptional pieces of furniture by Jean-Charles Moreux, originally designed for Rambouillet but which ended up at the Élysée Palace.
Then push open the doors of four reconstructed bedrooms, open to the public for the first time, and the foreign heads of state's flat, where the furnishings have been completed, for an immersive experience at the heart of the intimacy of the President and his guests at Rambouillet. And finally, the highlight of the show: the famous Salon Médicis, a convivial space designed by decorators André Arbus and Raymond Subes in the château's ancient marble hall.
